Learn about becoming a new patient

A note from Dr. Taz MD

348

I love the relaxed pace of summer and I love that my children get to relax with me! We, at Atlanta Center for Holistic and Integrative Medicine, however, have had a busy summer. We have new providers on board, construction starting on a third floor renovation, and lots of great new services to add. I am proud of the progress we have made.

With progress and growth, however, are challenges that we are all determined to meet. We are setting forth consistent guidelines and policies that will help ensure we deliver you with the best possible service. This will hopefully clear up any service and communication gaps that we may have had. Please note that the guide includes points of contact, should you feel that your needs are not fully explained by the guidelines below.

Thanks for your support and guidance through the years. I love what I do and am honored to take care of you while building a lasting team.

Thanks,

Dr. Taz MD

From Our Garden

This month, as we look at ways to reduce inflammation, here is a delicious recipe for you to try from Dr. Taz’s book What Doctor’s Eat.

76Almond-Encrusted Wild Salmon Fillets on a Bed of Wilted Greens

  • 1/2 cup chopped almonds
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
  • 1 Tbs. grated organic lemon zest
  • 1/2 tsp. sea salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 wild-caught skinless salmon fillets (6-8 oz. each)
  • 2 Tbd. extra-virgin olive oil
  • 4 cups mixed organic baby greens, spinach, or watercress Lemon wedges

Instructions:

  1. Mix the almonds, parsley, lemon zest, sea salt, and freshly ground black pepper to taste in a wide, shallow bowl.
  2. Beat the egg in another wide, shallow bowl. Pat the salmon dry with a paper towel.
  3. Dip a salmon fillet in to the egg, turning to coat. Transfer the fillet to the bowl with the almond mixture, and press firmly to the almonsts adhere. Set aside and repeat with the second filet.
  4. Warm the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the salmon and cook, turning once, until it’s opaque in the center, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Arrange 2 cups of greens per plate, and place a cooked salmon fillet on top of the greens. Garnish with lemon wedges and serve immediately.

Early Detection Saves Lives

DIGITAL INFRARED THERMAL IMAGING “THERMOGRAPHY” AVAILABLE ON JULY 14th

Every woman should include breast thermography as part of their regular breast health care. Thermography has the unique ability to “map” the individual thermal fingerprint of a woman’s breasts. Any change in this map over the course of months and years can signal an early indication of possible tumors or other abnormalities.Thermography is recommended in conjunction with mammography and has been considered the earliest detection for breast disease because the technology monitors the physiological activity or function of the breast tissue to detect abnormal changes even before a tumor can develop.

A Note From Our New Acupuncturist, Allison Andersen

I am excited and honored to be attending the 10th Annual MD Anderson Integrative Oncology Training Conference this month. At this conference, I will learn about current research on treatments and advances in cancer care through Western medicine, acupuncture, nutrition, and mind-body practices. This is one of the ways that I am able to bridge the gap in care that many acupuncture patients feel while undergoing cancer treatment, and help my patients feel fully supported during their treatments. I look forward to incorporating this new knowledge into my treatments and sharing it with you!

Thanks,
Allison Anderson
