The scalp health solution: HydraFacial Keravive

The HydraFacial treatment has become one of the most popular offerings in dermatologists’ offices and spas. Among skincare experts, the HydraFacial is a favorite to maintain a clear, glowing complexion year-round without the hassle of invasive procedures. Now, there’s more to love with a scalp version of this wildly popular treatment, developed for people seeking healthier hair growth.

After just 1 treatment, patients reported improvement in scalp itchiness, scalp dryness, scalp flakiness and hair fullness. Following the full course of treatments, 75% of patients reported improvement in hair fullness, 72% reported improvement in overall hair appearance and 64% said they felt more confident as a result (1).

Noticeable hair loss in women can be deeply distressing.

More than half of all women suffer hair loss at some point in their adult life, and for men this number is even higher (2). Amidst a sea of shampoos and drugstore products that carry empty promises (but high price tags), most people struggle with the negative mental and emotional feelings trying to treat hair loss for years.

When treating hair loss or hair thinning, the key is to identify your personal underlying causes for poor hair growth, or other factors responsible for hair loss. Much of hair loss begins with looking at the health of your scalp.

Healthier looking hair starts with a healthy scalp

Keravive targets the scalp to restore and nourish hair follicles. A healthier scalp helps stimulate hair growth, especially if you're already undergoing hair loss treatments.

What does poor scalp health typically look like? If you have dry skin, clogged hair follicles, a buildup of dead skin cells, and/or a lack of circulation to your scalp, this can directly lead to thinner-looking hair (3).

  • Low scalp hydration - A dry scalp means moisture and nutrients escape the top layer of skin on your scalp, contributing to thinner-looking hair.
  • Clogged follicles - Dead skin cells, excessive sebum production, and sweat are the main culprits responsible for scalp buildup.
  • Dead skin congestion - Exfoliation is great for the skin on your scalp too! The buildup of dead skin can definitely cause hair loss if left untreated.
  • Poor circulation - Insufficient blood circulation stops the roots of your hair receiving adequate nutrients, leaving your hair follicles weak and lifeless.

Can a noninvasive, drug-free system actually make such a big difference in the look and feel of your hair? In short: Yes!

The Keravive 3-step process

The HydraFacial Keravive uses a 3-step method to extract impurities (like dead skill cells), allowing hair follicles to absorb nutrients and skin proteins, and protects against dryness and irritation.

Step 1: Cleanse & exfoliate

The same technology you love for your face, designed for your scalp. HydraFacial Vortex Technology extracts dirt, oil, and impurities from around your hair follicles, allowing for nutrients and nourishing products to better reach your scalp.

Step 2: Hydrate & nourish

HydraFacial Keravive Peptide Complex Solution exfoliates dead skin cells from your scalp and nourishes your hair follicles with growth factors and skin proteins to promote a healthy scalp and healthier, fuller-looking hair.

Step 3: Extend & enhance

At home, daily use of the HydraFacial Keravive Peptide Complex Spray enhances your in-office treatment and delivers daily hydration and nourishment directly to your hair follicles.

How Keravive works

Keravive claims it can lead to fuller-looking hair, and here’s why it works.

The skin on your scalp is prone to buildup that can essentially choke hair follicles from receiving necessary moisture and nutrients. Couple external factors like this buildup with a lack of oxygen and nutrients due to poor circulation to the delicate blood vessels beneath the hair follicles, and you have the perfect recipe for dead, dull, lifeless hair. This also makes it prone to thinning, and may restrict the growth of hair overall.

Keravive is especially helpful if you have a lot of buildup on your scalp that’s interfering with hair growth.

While HydraFacial Keravive isn’t considered a ‘hair loss treatment’, it does support every facet of healthy hair growth. It’s a deep-cleansing treatment to unclog pores and exfoliate the scalp. And similar to a facial, exfoliation will allow better penetration of other products.

Who benefits the most from Keravive?

Keravive isn’t only for those wanting hair regrowth or who are concerned about thinning hair. Because nearly everyone can benefit from better hair and scalp health, Keravive is a great solution for people who are experiencing any kind of scalp flaking, itchiness, or dryness.

Keravive can also be used on its own to improve the health of the scalp, or as part of an overall plan that includes other treatments to stimulate hair growth. No matter your hair growth goals, a HydraFacial Keravive scalp treatment can be great for your hair, as well as serve as a relaxing experience overall.

What to expect during a Keravive treatment

Keravive is a 3-step treatment. Two of the steps take place in the spa, and the third is done at home. In total, a Keravive appointment takes about 60 minutes.

First, your esthetician will cleanse and exfoliate to extract any dirt, oil, or buildup from the scalp. The formula used for this step is similar to that in the HydraFacial, as it contains beta hydroxy acid and salicylic acid.

Then, the second step uses the Keravive booster serum that’s applied in a ‘kiss and twist’ motion to the scalp. It’s a proprietary blend of growth factors and proteins. After applying the serum, a 5-to-10 minute scalp massage stimulates circulation to the scalp and hair follicles. This is an important step for those who are trying to encourage hair growth—plus it feels phenomenal.

Finally, you’ll be sent home with a peptide-based spray designed to continue nourishing your hair follicles. It contains hair-healthy ingredients like vitamin B5 and amino acids. This spray also helps repair damage from environmental factors and supports collagen formation. You’ll use this spray once per day—generally at night—followed by scalp massage.

How often to get a HydraFacial Keravive scalp treatment?

Keravive is most effective when done at least 3 times and about every 4 weeks. Continued treatment maintains the best results for most people. But it’s important to remember that everyone’s hair and scalp health are different. Depending on your goals and where you’re starting from, the timeline for results will differ from person to person (and from scalp to scalp).

Some patients may require a series of treatments, and others may be perfectly happy with their results on a more “once in a while” schedule to maintain hair health.

It can be used alongside other hair loss treatments

HydraFacial Keravive scalp treatment makes the perfect complement to other hair-loss treatment protocols. A cleaner, healthier scalp always encourages better uptake and efficacy of other oral or topical therapies.
