Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder affects approximately 3% of school-aged children according to the AOTA, and the number is rising. Children with ADHD have a difficulty with attention, modulating their activity level and/or controlling compulsive behavior. We work with families to develop a personalized plan to help parents and children cope with ADHD, including evaluating nutritional deficiencies, detoxification needs, supplementations and medicine needs, and introducing alternative therapies.
Autism impacts 1 in 68 children, though more recent studies suggest that number is likely closer to 1 in 45. We take a whole-person approach to autism for long term results and improvement. Recognizing there is not “one-size-fits all” treatment, we work with parents to develop a personalized health plan for children on the autism spectrum, including evaluating for nutritional and vitamin deficiencies and expanding treatment options.
Behavior challenges in children, especially when erratic and extreme, can not only cause issues for the child, but also the entire family. At CentreSpringMD + Pediatrics, we understand the chemistry behind behavior and how it can be exacerbated by poor detoxification, methylation issues and nutritional deficiencies. Let our compassionate team evaluate your child and partner with you to help create a holistic plan that works. We look at all of your child’s options—from the conventional approach with medication when necessary, to all that Chinese, integrative and functional medicine has to offer.
The skin is the body’s largest organ and when there is a deep imbalance, it’s one of the first organs to show us. Whether it is through coloring, a rash or eczema—at CentreSpringMD + Pediatrics we learn a lot about a patient just by looking at his or/her skin. The conventional way of treating eczema calls for cremes and steroids, but while those can help temporarily none of those prescriptions address the root cause(s). That’s why our team of providers take the time with your child to understand what is going on. We evaluate gut health, look at histamine responses, and check inflammation markers to asses what is triggering eczema, so that lasting healing can occur.
Food intolerances and allergies that are undetected can wreak havoc on your little one. Our goal at CentreSpringMD + Pediatrics is to find out what foods your child needs to avoid or completely remove. We don’t just start and stop there because we want to help rebuild and repair gut integrity with the hope of reintroducing those foods down the road. For some, complete reversal of the intolerance may occur, and for others, avoiding certain foods, preservatives or dyes might become a lifestyle. Whatever your child is dealing with, our team of compassionate providers want to partner with you to help alleviate symptoms and provide recommendations for lasting healing. We offer a number of the best tests, treatment options and resources to get to the root issue.

One particular condition that is being researched and widely debated in the medical community is pediatric acute-onset neuropsychiatric syndrome, or “PANS." The most current theories suggest that infection, environment, or other factors trigger a misdirected response of the immune system that creates inflammation in the brain. Children affected by PANS may present with symptoms such as OCD, motor tics, anxiety, or severe restrictive eating. These often happen “overnight”, with a very distinct presentation reported by parents. If streptococcal infection is identified as the trigger for the onset, the condition is referred to as PANDAS. After ruling out other medical issues that could cause these symptoms, parents are often left without many answers or options for treatment. Having an integrative and functional medicine approach, we look into how diet, stress, yeast overgrowth, viruses, environmental toxins, or other potential pathogens could potentially exacerbate the condition. We have also been looking into the connection with low levels of immunoglobulins. From there we are able to help create treatment plans that will provide the body with conditions needed for improvement or recovery.
