Ayurvedic Weekly Tips and Reminders: Cucumbers

Learn about becoming a new patient

Namaste’ everyone,

Did you know that cucumbers are high in B vitamins which makes it the perfect energy boosting food to add to your summer meals or have as  a snack? Everyone is looking to boost their energy so instead of having coffee at 3 o’clock keep a cucumber with you at work whether you are indoors or out, this makes a great snack. Good for all constitutions!

Recipe for Cucumber Raita ( The Ayurvedic Cookbook by Amadea Morningstar)

one cup fresh yogurt, 1/4 cup cucumber, tbsp fresh scallions, one tbsp fresh ginger root, 1/8 tsp tumeric, 1/4 tsp back pepper, 1/8 tsp cinnamon ( optional), 1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves  (cilantro). Combine all ingredients.

**Good for Vata but occasionally for Pitta and Kapha

Reminder

We are in the hot season of pitta in Atlanta. Avoid spicy foods, chilis, and favor cooling foods like coconut water, rosewater, mint, fennel, ghee.

And PLEASE enjoy your food!! Ayurveda is not about restrictions in the way we know American diets are, it’s about understanding what foods are heating and cooling, when to eat them and in what season.. so follow nature’s calling and enjoy the gifts of every season!!

If you don’t know your constitution visit my website at www.gedaliahhealingarts.com or schedule an appt.

Please share on facebook with your friends and family!

thanks see you soon,

Gedalia
