Ayurveda determined that eating according to the body’s natural response to the changing seasons will ultimately bring about balance.

Pratima Raichur, Ayurvedic skin specialist, writes in her book, “Absolute Beauty” that in this season of dry, cold, windy weather, when our complexion needs hydration and our feet and hands begin to crack, we can opt to select foods that are soupy, stewed, slightly oilier than summer, and especially warm, and cooked. Some examples to get into the rhythm of this season are butternut squash soup, chicken soup with vegetables, or grass-fed beef stew if you eat meat.

Avoiding cold water, iced drinks, along with foods directly out of the refrigerator, hampers our delicate digestion, which when out of balance creates a perfect storm for inflammation.
