Mention the world “cellulite” to most women and you will likely get a negative reaction. Cellulite is one of the body image issues that many women lament, especially during summer months. It’s the lumpy, bumpy, dimpling skin that women may find on their backsides and thighs. Most women have it, and don’t know how to get rid of it.
Cellulite is mainly genetic, but can affect most women no matter their size, race, or body type. Cellulite is subcutaneous fat pockets just below the top layer of skin, the epidermis, caused by fascial restrictions. Women have it more often than men because women naturally carry our fat around our hips, thighs, and buttocks.
Cellulite is very hard to diminish the appearance of but it can be done. First, one must consider a more integrative or holistic approach to treatment. Most women may want a quick fix, and buy creams over the counter but creams and lotions alone will not help. By thinking a little outside the box, and investing some time in a holistically or more natural treatment plan, the appearance of cellulite can be diminished!
The most important thing one must do is drink plenty of water! It’s a foundational health rule. Staying hydrated flushes excess fluids out of the body—and your skinl loves it.
Secondly, move more! Exercise alone won’t get rid of cellulite—like I said, even athletes have it—but toning workouts and weight training will help diminish the appearance of cellulite.
Essential oils may help as a natural and holistic ways to diminish the appearance of cellulite. EOs have been used for centuries to decrease the appearance of it. Grapefruit oil, and other citrus oils, will help detoxify the body of the fat hanging around the hips and thighs. Always mix essential oils with a carrier oil, like almond oil or coconut oil, before applying.
Finally, a treatment that we love and see great results from is cupping. Cupping massage is a popular among celebrities and professional athletes for bringing healing to the body. However, this ancient therapy is also highly affective in treating areas of cellulite because it applies negative pressure that lifts the skin, fascia, and subcutaneous fat layer away from the body. It will move those fat pockets out of the top layer of skin, and into the lymphatic system to be flushed out of the body. After treatment, I emphasize increasing your intake of water to help flush the toxins out of your body.
We offer a cellulite cupping treatment to target these key areas. Our treatment ($125/session) includes a peppermint scrub of the hips, buttocks, and thighs, which prepares the skin to receive the essential oils properly. We use Epicuren Espresso Limon Oil, which uses coffee to detox and firm skin and some citrus essential oils that help detox and break down fat. The certified therapists will use a cupping that is precise to increase blood flow and decrease the appearance of the fat pockets under the skin. You may start to notice changes early on, but it is recommended to have at least 3 cellulite cupping treatments over 6 weeks to get the most benefits possible.
