I get asked often how I manage to keep pretty clear and youthful skin with my busy schedule. I’m here to tell you it’s largely thanks to a skin treatment that has gained recent popularity, but one I have been turning to for years. But what is it, exactly, and how does it really help your skin?
My secret is microneedling! This is a minimally invasive treatment used to promote skin rejuvenation. A device with fine needles creates tiny punctures in the top layer of the skin, which triggers the body to create new collagen and elastin. This is because the needles actually create a ‘micro injury’ that causes skin to stimulate the production of collagen. This fills in fine lines, plumping the skin and contributing to a younger look! Who doesn’t want that?
I know what you’re thinking – that sounds painful! Fortunately, at CentreSpring Spa, we use a medical grade numbing cream, so you don’t feel any pain at all, I promise.
But why do I love this procedure so much, and why is it my go-to? Well, I always see results! My skin looks smoother and some of my more subtle lines seem to disappear. I feel like it buys me time from needing a lot of more invasive procedures, and my skin thanks me for it.
I find results come after 3-4 treatments over the course of a 6-week period. Although each person is different, usually you will see improved texture and firmness, as well as a reduction in scars, pore size, and hyperpigmentation!
As far as who I recommend for this treatment, I think it’s great for anyone seeing the first signs of fine lines. A great time to start is in your 30’s, that way, you catch those lines just as they’re starting to appear, and can hopefully prevent having to turn to less natural procedures.
But be careful – anyone who has had peels, on retin a, or pregnant should avoid the procedure as your skin is more sensitive.
