Get to know our new esthetician, Cher Clark, as we welcome her to the CentreSpringMD team!
What made you decide to become an esthetician?
Starting my work life out in a very toxic industry had me concerned about my skin and overall health so I returned to school to learn aesthetics and to my dismay later even found that this industry also needs a detox – enter Integrative Aesthetics!
Why are you so passionate about caring for others by caring for their skin?
Beauty is not only skin deep but is a reflection of our overall health. Internal and external nutrition, especially lipids, equal truly healthy skin and deep within! Making others more beautiful is very rewarding since when you look your best you can feel your best!
Why do you think self-care is important, and how does it help compliment the medical care someone might be receiving at our center?
Your skin is the largest organ of your body and is many times an optimal way of getting nutrition into the body. We see this in medicine – think pain, birth control and even smoking cessation patches, as well beneficial minerals such as magnesium. There is increasing awareness that what we apply to our skin is so important and a great adjunct to your holistic and/or integrative treatment plan and lifestyle!
What’s the most important part of a skincare routine that should never be skipped?
Moisturizing! Skin cells are thirsty too and more moisture equals less wrinkles over time. Hyaluronic acid molecules hold 1,000 times their weight in water and should be applied while skin is still damp after cleansing and followed by serums, treatment creams or an antioxidant oil to seal in the actives and protect your skin cells to maintain their youthful radiance.
What’s the one skincare product you can’t live without?
Anything Eminence. I love that it’s organic and has so many superfood nutrients in such a luxurious formulation with incredible scents, while also super effective for the conditions you wish to improve.
Why are you excited to work at a holistic spa, specifically CentreSpring Spa?
My ongoing studies have taken me deep into integrative and functional medicine principals and the functions of the skin is of utmost importance. I am also excited to work with others that appreciate and share my values and CentreSpringMD staff, patients and clients fit perfectly with that!
What do you like to do in your free time, and what are your hobbies and passions outside of being an esthetician?
I love to be active outdoors hiking, mountain biking and enjoying nature with the love of my life and I’m also an avid yogi who enjoys constant study and learning, spending time with family and friends and creating delicious and nutritious edible art in my (mostly) keto kitchen to share with loved ones!
