Dr. Brandon Smith joins CentreSpring MD after completing his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Arizona in Tucson. Originally from Tennessee, Dr. Smith attended Rhodes College in Memphis, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He went on to complete his medical degree at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2020.
Through general Internal Medicine training, Dr. Smith gained a broad knowledge base across specialties and expertise in managing complex cases. It was early in his medical training that he recognized the limitations of conventional medicine in effectively combating age-related diseases that affect most people. Heart disease, cancer, dementia, and type 2 diabetes demand a proactive approach that focuses on personalized strategies for longevity. Inspired by those physicians before him, he embraces a philosophy to modernize healthcare with an emphasis on prevention.
To best manage these disease states, he supplemented his medical education as a CrossFit coach starting in 2013. He applied his background in biochemistry to develop a deep understanding of both nutrition and exercise physiology. Within the medical field, he expanded his understanding of patient care and frameworks through clinical experience in Integrative Medicine, Functional Medicine, and Culinary Medicine. These hands-on training opportunities allowed him to work alongside experts in those fields, exposing him to diverse perspectives.
His approach integrates those experiences utilizing a foundation of nutritional interventions, optimized exercise and sleep, and the prioritization of emotional and mental health. By implementing these principles both personally and in his professional medical practice, he aims to empower patients to take control of their well-being, health, and longevity. He firmly believes in addressing health concerns at the root source. Through the application of the latest scientific advancements in technology and pharmaceuticals, he offers interventions tailored to each patient’s unique needs.
In his practice, he strives to create a healing environment where patients feel heard. As an internist, he favors managing patients holistically and understands how different systems relate. His journey as a medical professional has been guided by a vision for better healthcare practices and a dedication to personalized, proactive strategies. His major clinical interest is in metabolic dysfunction and preventing its long-term complications. He seeks to help individuals live longer, healthier, and more fulfilling lives.
Beyond medicine, Dr. Smith remains active through CrossFit and a newfound passion for hiking and cycling that he discovered in Arizona. He also enjoys regular yoga sessions, thought-provoking podcasts, and the art of fishing.
